Drunk Utah Woman Calls Police to Report...Herself?

|

Intoxicated, burping, and laughing is no way to go through life. Well, at least not when you're driving. But, according to court documents, that's exactly the state that Breanna Hernandez was in when she called police to report a drunk driver. That drunk driver, as it turns out, was herself.

The 32-year-old Woods Cross, Utah woman ended up being found guilty of driving under the influence and open container/drinking alcohol in a vehicle and sentenced 12 days in jail, 12 months of probation, and 48 hours of community service.

Now, of course, it's not the charges or sentencing that make this such a wild story, but the completely obliterated state the Hernandez was in when first responders arrived on the scene.

Per Fox 13 Now:

"The call-taker stated Breanna sounded intoxicated, was burping, and laughing uncontrollably on the phone," a court document said.

The dispatcher asked Hernandez for the license plate of the vehicle she was calling to report, and Hernandez gave the dispatcher her own license plate number.

Police found Hernandez in the driver's seat of her car and a "near empty bottle of Fireball Whisky in the driver's cup holder," according to court documents.

When Hernandez spotted officers, she got out of the car and tried to run away, a probable cause statement said.

"Breanna had to be restrained by officers who reported they could smell the odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her person," the statement said.

On top of all that craziness, Hernandez needed to be sedated when she arrived at a local hospital because she kept on fighting with police officers and hospital staff. When she woke up though, apparently clear-headed and sober, she said that "she was ready to go to jail and do her time."

What a turnaround. What an absolute turnaround.
