If you ever needed a sign to remind you to double check that your truck is in park next time you use it, this should be it. These guys face the unfortunate situation of having their GMC Sierra roll back while at the boat ramp, and it takes a dive to the bottom of the water very quickly. I don't think they expected their fun day of fishing to end up like this. There's not a whole lot of information behind this particular story, but we can put a few things together.

As the video begins, you'll witness the pickup's last moments floating on top of the water before it begins its plunge. If you look closely, you'll notice that the truck still has its reverse lights on. Based on that, I think it's safe to assume that someone didn't put this thing all the way into park, and, before they could realize what was going on, it was too late. Surprisingly, they don't seem to have a trailer hooked up to it, so at least they didn't lose that as well.

I will give credit to the guy standing in the bed of the truck as it's sinking. He successfully makes a quick last-minute move to save his cell phone, and that probably paid off when he ordered his Uber back home. Eventually, I'm sure someone came along to drag this truck out of the water, but there's pretty much no saving it at that point. Flood damage is no joke, but hopefully the owner had some insurance to cover the damages.

This is kind of like a double whammy. Not only do you lose your truck, but you take a nice hit to the ego as well, because you know all the other boaters at the launch were shaking their heads at what happened. I guess you live and learn, but maybe take some notes from this video. It's a lot less expensive when you can watch someone else screw up, and now you know exactly what not to do at the boat ramp during your next fishing or boating excursion.
