These days, RC cars are not quite the same types of toys that you used to play with when you were a kid. They may look small, but these electric vehicles can pack a serious punch on the road. All that being said, while we've seen some RC cars reach some ridiculous top speeds before, the customized Shockwave shown in the above video is on a whole other level of fast.

Brandon Botwinick, an experienced RC car customizer, worked his magic on a remote controlled car and turned it into a certified force to be reckoned with. To show exactly what his souped-up toy could do, he strapped a Go-Pro to it and went head-to-head against a Talion RC car.

The Talion definitely wasn't slacking in the speed department, reaching a top speed of 100 MPH. While it put up a valiant effort, it was no match for the Shockwave, which hit 124 MPH in less than eight seconds. To put that insane acceleration into perspective, here's how it stacks up against a couple of the more renowned supercars out there.

Per Carbuzz:

We do not have a specific number to quote, but less than eight seconds puts it firmly in the realm of million-dollar exotics like the Bugatti Chiron, which does the 124 mph sprint in the low six-second range, and the Porsche 918 Spyder, which could hit 124 mph in the low seven-second range.

For a large rodent-sized toy with a couple batteries in it, this modified Shockwave is an absolute beast of an RC car. Obviously, it wouldn't stand a chance, but it'd still be pretty hilarious to see this thing hit the drag strip.
