The Tesla Cybertruck is only one of many Tesla CEO Elon Musk's inspired creations, but it's definitely one that's long been a trending topic. The pickup truck is not expected to go into production until late 2021, though there's already been 250,000 pre-orders for the electric vehicle.

So far, outside of some teasers and the original unveiling, we really haven't seen the trucks tested much in real life. However, on an episode of Jay Leno's Garage back in May, we see Jay and Elon go for a little test drive in the electric pickup truck for the first time. Having aired on CNBC, the segment is a must-watch if you're looking to learn what makes Tesla's Cybertruck so cool.

The video starts off with the former late night talk show host asking Musk if the Cybertruck is around. Without hesitation, Musk brings it right on out. They go over some of the features, including the retractable bed cover, but it doesn't take long before Jay gets itching to take the stainless steel show car for a spin.

Jay Leno drives out onto the streets of Los Angeles. Instantly, he notes how the instant acceleration feels similar to other models like the Tesla Model Y. They touch on topics such as how the show vehicle will differ from the actual production version of the truck. Elon replies stating that the whole vehicle will need to be reduced in size by five percent in order to fit into a normal garage, and he also hopes to work on visibility. They then talk about the bulletproof glass design, which Musk justifies by saying it's badass. Following that, he reassures people that they'll be glad they have the apocalypse technology once they need it.

It gets even better as they pass by the SpaceX headquarters. They decide to take the pickup through the Boring Company tunnel that runs underground beneath Los Angeles. The test tunnel is 1.5 miles long, and it's also pretty narrow, so the Cybertruck was a tight fit. It did make it through though, and it even fit on the elevator to get out of the other side. Although Leno drove the truck through the tunnel, Musk claims that normally you would put the vehicle in autopilot where it would guide itself through, hands free.

It's awesome to see this truck in action! It's also cool to see how excited Elon Musk gets while he talks about all the cool features. You can tell this man is truly invested in his game-changing ventures. We might have a ways to go before the Tesla Cybertruck will be seen cruising around on public roads, but this video shows us exactly what we can expect from the revolutionary electric vehicle.
