You would think that if you were towing a large camper behind your pickup truck, you'd pay a little more attention to your surroundings. That doesn't seem to be the case for this driver, but he does learn a valuable lesson when his air conditioning unit collides with a low bridge, throwing debris everywhere.

It's blatantly obvious that the driver was just not watching his driving at all. Not only does he fail to know his own height, but he disregarded the posted clearance signs, and he also blows right through a red light, as if it were nothing. There wasn't even any sign of braking either. If you ask me, he was asking to get that AC removed, and he's extremely lucky that's all that happened here. It did note during the video that he came back to the scene and cleaned up the mess, so at least he did the right thing after the collision.

This bridge is known to chop the roofs off of quite a number of trucks and trailers in the past. When it was originally built, it had a clearance of 11' 8'' tall, but after complications with accidents, the North Carolina Railroad Company decided to raise it to 12' 4'' in 2019 to reduce collisions. However, where there's a will, there's a way, so it shouldn't be all that surprising that some people still manage to hit this thing. At that point, that's on you.

When towing something large like this, it's beneficial to at least know how tall you are before taking off on your journey. Failing to do so only puts you and others around you at risk, so learn from this guy's mistake. I'd say he got off pretty lucky, because replacing a couple AC units is a lot cheaper than having to replace the entire roof.
