The Jet Ski Scene From "Tiger King" Never Gets Old

At this point, pretty much everyone has seen the crazy Netflix show Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness. It tells the story of Joe Exotic and his beef with Big Cat Rescue owner Carole Baskin in one of the wildest docuseries ever made. But, James Garretson's slow motion jet ski scene has got to be one of the most random and comedic parts of the whole series.

Garretson rides the waves on his jet ski while Eye of the Tiger playing in the background. It's almost like a short music video, and it channels Kenny Powers in Eastbound & Down. They saved this gem of a scene until the seventh episode, when Garretson explains his involvement as an FBI informant.

What made the scene even funnier was the fact that it was completely out of the blue, and there was nothing leading up to or explaining it. That's kind of how this whole series went, though. Just when you think they've run out of all the interesting stuff, BAM! They hit you with more.

Seeing as we are in a pandemic, there's never been a better time to watch this crazy Netflix series. Since its release, the Tiger King memes have been showing up everywhere, but I think that I'm going to claim that some of the best memes came from the jet ski scene. Just take a look at a few classic ones.

While the scene was extremely random, it did fit James Garretson's personality. He's actually a big watersports and jet ski guy in real life. To be honest, I don't think they could have introduced someone any better than they introduced him. He even did his follow-up interview with TMZ on a jet ski.

People may have mixed feelings about the character because of his involvement with the zoo and the FBI, but I'm pretty sure by the time Joe was under investigation, everyone who was involved in that business was just looking for a way to protect themselves.

I can assure you that Tiger King will leave you on the edge of your seat the entire time, but this jet ski scene is definitely one of its classic moments. It was a fantastic way to break up the drama with a little bit of humor. If you're looking for some entertainment, this series is a must-watch. If you're resisting your urge to watch for whatever reason, at least check out this one scene and have a laugh. You won't regret it.
