Dale Jr. Just Discovered His Dad Was a Punchline on "The Office"

Dale Earnhardt Jr. thought that he had seen every episode of The Office, but the former NASCAR driver recently came across a clip from the wildly popular NBC comedy series where Michael Scott name drops none other than Junior's dad, the late Dale Earnhardt Sr.

The hilarious clip is from "Email Surveillance," the ninth episode of the second season, which aired November 22, 2005. So, Junior was only about 15 years late to this classic Office quote. But hey, better late than never, right?

"The story about me getting into improv was that I was walking down the street, and a race car pulls up," Scott says in the clip. "And the guy says 'Hey, you're funny. You're the funniest guy I've ever seen, or my name's not Dale Earnhardt.'

"And that was an improv. The real way was that I found a flyer."

Originally posted by Twitter user @nascarman_rr, the clip was eventually seen by Dale Jr., who responded, "Never seen this before @SteveCarell," tagging the Michael Scott actor.

In a subsequent tweet, Earnhardt added, "I thought I'd seen em all." But, it looks like this knee-slapping scene slipped right under his radar.

If you're practicing safe social distancing right now during this coronavirus craziness (which hopefully you are), then maybe you're joining the countless quarantined folks in binging The Office on Netflix.

Well, get your binging in while you can, because Michael Scott, Dwight Schrute, Jim Halpert, Pam Beesly, Phyllis, Angela, Creed, and the rest of the Dunder Mifflin crew won't be on Netflix for much longer, as the streaming service is removing the TV show from its queue by the end of 2020. As if this year couldn't get any worse.
