In an illustrious NASCAR career that began full-time in 2000, Dale Earnhardt Jr. has seen his fair share of memorable moments. But there are some that are memorable for the wrong reasons.

The driver opened up about one particular event Friday at Phoenix Raceway, one he'd like to forget according to ESPN. The incident in question occurred on Jan. 11, 2013, the first time he had an opportunity to run a superspeedway test of the new Gen-6 NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series car. Earnhardt caused a huge wreck, after attempting to bump draft Marcos Ambrose on the backstretch. The wreck sent at least 10 teams packing with serious damage to their cars.

"We're testing, and it's January and everybody's cars are brand new," said Earnhardt at Phoenix Raceway. "Everybody is testing their brand-new speedway car, and I started a crash on the back straightaway and I'm like, 'Oops, my bad.'"

"You go in the garage and you are like, 'Man, I just want to go hide in the trailer.' Everybody's torn up cars are coming in and all the crews are all pissed off... those are some of the worst moments as a driver, some of the most embarrassing moments. So anytime you do anything like that, you hope people have short memories."

Heading into Phoenix the driver still has two chances to win what would be his final victory. Hopefully he goes out on a positive note and doesn't recreate the carnage from 2013.
