The three national NASCAR series head home this weekend to compete at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Multiple drivers will use the opportunity to attempt to complete 900 miles of racing.
Hendrick Motorsports driver William Byron, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Chase Briscoe, and Richard Childress Racing driver Austin Dillon will all add the Xfinity Series race to their schedule while pulling double duty. JR Motorsports/Trackhouse Racing driver Connor Zilisch will add the Cup Series race to his schedule.
These four drivers will attempt to complete 300 miles of action on Saturday evening. They will then try to complete all 600 miles of the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday evening.
This will not be the first time that Dillon has completed 900 miles of racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He previously achieved this feat in 2015. He started from the pole in the spring race at Charlotte Motor Speedway and won after leading 163 laps. He then completed all 600 miles of the Coca-Cola 600 before finishing 16th.
Briscoe attempted to complete all 900 miles during the 2021 season. He drove for BJ McLeod Motorsports in the Xfinity Series race and finished sixth after completing all 200 laps. He then completed 397 of the scheduled 400 laps in the Coca-Cola 600.
Neither Byron nor Zilisch has attempted this feat. Zilisch will make his first national series start at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend. Byron has only made two Xfinity starts at the 1.5-mile track, both in 2017. He didn't make his Cup debut at the track until 2018.
Of course, these four drivers are far from the only ones making multiple starts this weekend. They are the only ones attempting to complete 900 miles of racing.
Kyle Busch and Ross Chastain will try to complete 801 miles of racing as they compete in both the Truck Series race and the Coca-Cola 600. Brandon Jones will attempt to complete 501 miles as he pulls double duty in Truck and Xfinity races.
Kyle Larson is famously attempting to complete 1,100 miles of racing, albeit at two different tracks. He will attempt The Double, which requires completing the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day.
