Kyle Busch reunites with Fontana-winning sponsor

Kyle Busch is reuniting with a race-winning sponsor this season as he continues to seek a return to the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.

According to a Tuesday announcement, Busch will join forces once again with Lucas Oil. The high-performance lubricants company will take over the No. 8 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet for three races, starting with Martinsville Speedway this weekend.

The Lucas Oil scheme will return at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City on June 15 and at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sept. 13.

These races take place at tracks where Busch has delivered success. He has four combined wins at Martinsville Speedway, one Xfinity win in Mexico City, and 22 combined wins at Bristol Motor Speedway.

"Season after season, Lucas Oil has given us the technical support needed to run up front and win, and that is what makes this partnership so exceptional and why we are thrilled to have them back as the primary sponsor of the No. 8 Chevrolet," said Mike Verlander, president of RCR, in a press release.

Busch joined forces with Lucas Oil in 2023 when he made his move to Richard Childress Racing to drive the No. 8 Chevrolet. The company took over his car for two races at Fontana and Darlington.

Busch immediately delivered success by winning the final Cup Series race at Fontana before demolition began at the California facility.

Lucas Oil returned to Busch's No. 8 Chevrolet in 2024 and expanded its presence to three races. He showcased the blue scheme at Martinsville, Michigan, and Talladega. His best finish was fourth at Michigan.

This reunion follows an extension of the partnership deal between Busch and Lucas Oil, one that primarily focuses on his sprint car team and Brexton Busch's micro sprint team.

This deal made it possible for father and son to compete in the prestigious Tulsa Shootout and Chili Bowl Nationals over the NASCAR offseason. Brexton won the Junior Sprint A-Main at the Tulsa Shootout and secured his first Golden Driller trophy. Busch won multiple heat races across multiple sprint car classes.
