Austin Hill makes Cup Series return with part-time schedule

Austin Hill is expanding his 2025 racing schedule. He will return to the Cup Series while running a part-time schedule for Richard Childress Racing.

Hill, who competes full-time in the Xfinity Series, will drive the No. 33 Chevrolet Camaro in five Cup events this season. He will kick off this limited schedule with the April 6 race at Darlington Raceway, which caps off Throwback Weekend. This race will mark his first-ever Cup start at The Lady in Black.

Hill's schedule will continue with the Chicago Street Race on July 6, the regular-season finale at Daytona International Speedway on Aug. 23, the Bristol Night Race on Sept. 13, and the playoff race at Talladega Superspeedway on Oct. 19.

Hill will have a familiar presence calling the shots during his five-race Cup return. Andy Street, his crew chief in the Xfinity Series from 2022-24, will guide the No. 33 team while making his move into NASCAR's top series.

United Rentals will serve as the Georgia native's primary sponsor for this limited schedule. The company will also join Austin Dillon and Kyle Busch as an associate partner this season.

"I'm very appreciative of the opportunity to run the No. 33 United Rentals Chevrolet again this year," Hill said in a press release. "United Rentals has been a longtime supporter of my career and to continue that relationship once again at the top level of our sport is special. I've enjoyed my starts in the Cup Series so far and the goal is to keep learning every time I climb into the car.

"We have been strategic with adding new tracks to the lineup each season, which allows me to gain valuable experience. Racing for Richard (Childress) at any level is an honor, but especially in the Cup Series. The focus remains on winning the Xfinity Series championship in November, but any laps in the Cup car are important for the future."

Hill has made 10 Cup Series starts since the 2022 season, split between Richard Childress Racing and Beard Motorsports. He made his debut at Michigan in 2022 while driving the No. 33, and he finished 18th.

The 30-year-old made his return to the series in 2023. He has since competed at Talladega, Atlanta, Michigan again, Daytona (twice), the Charlotte Roval, Texas, Kansas, and Chicago. His career-best finish is 14th at Daytona in 2023.
