Dale Earnhardt Jr. was definitely a backwards hat kind of guy in his younger days, but long time fans probably remember a strange time back when he drove the number eight car when Junior wore a do-rag for a few races. There was even a race where the entire crew wore do-rags as well.

He won't tell us the full story (Maybe because it involves a large amount of his primary sponsor at the time's products), but the short version is that he busted open his head swimming in a pool and it required stitches. He and his crew knew about the incident, but Junior wore a do-rag to cover up the stitches until they healed so no one else would know.

Now we know what kinds of questions to ask if he ever shows up to call a race wearing some trendy head gear.
