Corey Heim makes NASCAR history with Lime Rock win

Corey Heim continues to make history while competing in the Craftsman Truck Series. This time, he did so at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut.

The Tricon Garage driver made history in two different ways. The first was that he became the first Truck Series driver to win at the northeast road course. The second is that he became the first driver in series history to win three consecutive road courses races.

Heim's last two road course wins in the Truck Series were Circuit of the Americas last season and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in 2023. Heim will now have the opportunity to win four straight road course races when the series heads to Watkins Glen International on Aug. 8.

Of course, Heim did not simply win at Lime Rock Park. He dominated while driving the No. 11 Tricon Garage Toyota.

The points leader started from the pole and swept the stage wins. He spent the entire race at the front of the pack. Although the race had some confusion considering that timing and scoring showed Heim as the leader for 99 of the 100 laps. The Fox Sports broadcast said that he led all 100.

Regardless of the number of laps led, Heim left the Connecticut road course with his series-leading fifth win and another 61 points. He added eight playoff points -- five for the win, two for the stage wins, and one for the Xfinity Fastest Lap -- and reached 40 on the season.

Chandler Smith is the closest driver in the Truck Series standings with 11 playoff points.

"Yeah, that was nothing short of incredible," Heim said after winning. "These road courses - I really look forward to them, pre-event and what not, and I really prepare for them, so to see all that pay off with Safelite, Tricon, Toyota - it is super special.

"Obviously, the truck was so good today - I can't complain one bit about that. A flawless day and we will take that, move forward, and try and collect some wins that we should have had this year."

Heim is now 10th in Truck Series history with 16 career wins. This win at Lime Rock Park pushed him ahead of three-time champion Matt Crafton.
