Corey Heim makes history with dominant Charlotte win

CONCORD, N.C. -- Corey Heim scored a dominant win at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday night, and he made NASCAR history multiple times in the process.

The Tricon Garage driver swept all three stages in the No. 11 and led 98 laps before winning by more than six seconds over Ross Chastain. He scored his 15th career win and became the youngest Truck Series driver in NASCAR history to reach this pivotal milestone.

Ross Chastain crossed the finish line in second place. Kaden Honeycutt, Layne Riggs, and Kyle Busch rounded out the top five.

Scoring 15 career wins by the age of 22 was not the only way in which Heim made history. He also set a new lap-led milestone during the dominant performance.

Heim entered the race with 654 laps led in only 10 races. He hit 700 laps led midway through the race, which was the most ever by a driver through 11 Truck Series races. He then closed out the night with 752 laps led this season.

The Tricon Garage driver has now led 40.1% of the possible laps this season. This includes two races -- Martinsville and North Wilkesboro -- where he led at least 149 laps.

While Heim has delivered dominant performances this season, he only has four wins. The reason is that unexpected situations have derailed multiple races. This includes Homestead-Miami Speedway, where his truck randomly shut off multiple times in the closing laps.

A late fuel stop kept Heim from winning at Rockingham. A broken pit gun kept Heim from scoring his third consecutive win at Kansas. Contact from Riggs sent him spinning at North Wilkesboro.

"Honestly, it's nice to be far enough away where somebody can't clean me out," Heim joked to Fox Sports' Todd Bodine after the win.

The Tricon Garage driver now has a dominant lead in the Truck Series standings. Heim is 100 points ahead of Chandler Smith, and he appears destined to win the regular-season championship once again.
