Cadillac Formula 1 Team unveils 2026 driver lineup

The Cadillac Formula 1 Team has taken another step toward its debut in 2026. The American team has unveiled its two-driver lineup for its inaugural season.

According to a press release, 10-time Grand Prix winner Valtteri Bottas and six-time Grand Prix winner Sergio "Checo" Perez will bring their experience to the new team and try to make it an early contender on the grid. They will help lay the foundation for the team's future.

Bottas, one of the most fascinating personalities in the sport, is no stranger to success. The Finn has made 246 starts during his F1 career, and he has stood on the podium 67 times. He has finished runner-up in the championship standings twice (2019, 2020).

"From the moment I began speaking with the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, I felt something different - something ambitious but also grounded," Bottas said in a press release. "This isn't just a racing project; it's a long-term vision. It's not every day that you get a chance to be part of something being built from the ground up and helping shape it into something that truly belongs on the F1 grid.

"I've had the honor of working with some of the best teams in the world, and I can already see the same professionalism and hunger here. This is an iconic brand with a big legacy in American motorsport, and to be a part of the story as it enters the world stage of F1 is incredibly special for me."

Checo, for comparison, has made 281 starts while securing 39 podium finishes and six wins. He finished runner-up in the standings in 2023 behind teammate Max Verstappen.

The Mexico native did not compete in F1 this season as Oracle Red Bull Racing featured multiple secondary drivers, but he will return to the grid next season while helping kick off a new era for the sport.

"Joining the Cadillac Formula 1 Team is an incredibly exciting new chapter in my career," Perez said. "From our first conversations, I could sense the passion and determination behind this project. It's an honor to be part of a building a team that can develop together so that, in time, we will fight at the very front.

"Cadillac is a legendary name in American motorsport, and to help bring such a fantastic company to Formula 1 is a huge responsibility, one I'm confident of taking on. I'm proud to be part of such an ambitious and meaningful project from the very beginning.

"I'm really pleased to be part of such a dynamic line-up, and together I believe we can help shape this team into a real contender, the team of the Americas. We're counting on support from across the continent - and we want to make everyone proud."

The driver announcements continue Cadillac F1 Team's onboarding process as it prepares for the 2026 season. The team previously named Graeme Lowdon as Team Principal. The team also brought in Russ O'Blenes as CEO of TWG GM Performance Power Units LLC.

One interesting update featured a Hollywood star. The team revealed that Keanu Reeves will lead a documentary focusing on Cadillac F1 Team's move into the world of F1.
