Back in 2019, Justin Anderson found out the hard way that it never pays to steal. Hoping to make some extra cash off a stolen ATV, the 33-year-old El Paso, Texas man instead found himself on the wrong end of a jail cell.

According to the El Paso Times, Anderson was arrested by deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office on October 22 2019, for allegedly jacking an ATV and some other equipment from a storage unit.

As it turns out, the deputies contacted the victim of the ATV theft and had him pose as a buyer on an online marketplace. Then, when Anderson showed up to the proposed spot to exchange the stolen goods, the cops were ready and waiting to arrest Anderson. So, the guy got busted for selling an ATV to the same guy he stole it from. How's that for karma?

Per El Paso Times:

According to the Sheriff's Office, the victim reported a small ATV and landscaping equipment was taken without consent from a storage unit on 13400 block of Boots Green Road.

The stolen property was located on a trading/selling website. Deputies, with the assistance of the victim, arranged to meet Anderson to purchase the stolen property. After the purchase was made, deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Square Dance Road and Boots Green Road, where they took Anderson into custody.

Anderson was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a theft of property charge with a $2,500 bond. Jail records show he was released that same day.

Ouch. I bet Anderson wishes he good take that back. Not the stealing the ATV part, but going the online marketplace route. You can never trust who you meet on the internet.
