San Francisco Bay Bridge donut arrests

Cars Shut Down Bay Bridge to Rip Donuts, and It Ended in One Arrest and Two Escapes

A New Edge Mustang, an SN95 Mustang, and an MkIII Toyota Supra drive onto the San Francisco Bay Bridge. What reads as the set-up for one unconventional joke had a slightly more conventional punchline, as the drivers of those three cars ended up getting the cops called on them after shutting down the Bay Bridge by putting on a show and ripping donut after donut.

While the drivers of the Supra and the New Edge successfully dodged law enforcement when they arrived on the scene, the driver of the SN95 ended up getting arrested. Here's how the whole incident -- which happened back in August 2018 -- went down, according to a statement put out by the San Francisco California Highway patrol.

Per San Francisco California Highway Patrol:

At 1045 hours video was taken by a passerby of vehicles stopping traffic on the Bay Bridge west of Treasure Island heading into San Francisco. These vehicles were engaging in side show activity on the freeway. Multiple units from the CHP San Francisco Area responded and were able to take the driver of one of these vehicles into custody. Numerous other vehicles suspected to be involved with the side show were also stopped for mechanical violations as they exited the Bay Bridge.

The driver of the white Mustang will be booked for reckless driving and exhibition of speed and his vehicle impounded for 30 days. Drivers of the other vehicles stopped were cited for various mechanical violations and one of those vehicles was also impounded as the driver was determined to be unlicensed.

According to the SF Chronicle, two other drivers (it's unclear if they were involved in the donut incident) were also arrested Sunday for weaving in and out of traffic at 100 MPH.

"Two drivers decided that their adrenaline & ego was more important than the safety of themselves or others," CHP wrote in a Facebook post.
