There are a whole host of different ways to tow motorcycles. You can call a towing service. You can secure your bike to a motorcycle trailer. And, if you're in a real bind with no other options, you can even pull it behind your car with a tow rope or strap.
Now, we wouldn't recommend doing the last one unless you absolutely know what you're doing. Sure, it's doable, but it also has the potential to go spectacularly, embarrassingly wrong. The below video showing a sketchy scene that went down on public road in Pineville, Louisiana is definitely proof of that.
Here's how the whole ridiculous motorcycle towing incident went down, according to the video's uploader.
"I was driving down Elser Field Road and I saw a car pulling another person on a motorcycle with a tow strap! I had to record it because what idiot would do that?! After the crash, I pulled over to make sure everything was alright. The guy on the motorcycle ended up with a broken rib and a busted up chin."
This has to be one of the dumbest things we've ever seen. Unless the motorcyclist had a literal death wish, why would he pull into the left lane like that? Plus, if the oncoming car hadn't slowed down, that biker probably would have been in some seriously nasty shape. Let's just say that he's lucky that it was just his chin and a rib that got messed up. The guy could have ended up underneath a car instead of recovering from his injuries on the side of the road.
We're guessing that next time this guy needs to tow his bike, he'll just call a towing company or something like that. Too bad he had to learn that lesson the hard way though.
