The Pagani Huayra R Is an 850-HP Monster

Ah Pagani, can you say V12? Pagani is one of the many Italian sports car manufacturers that frequently occupy the minds of car enthusiasts worldwide. Other than daydreams, Paganis are most commonly seen at high-profile car shows or in the occasional film. The closest I will likely ever get to driving a Pagani is a Need for Speed video game, but a guy can dream, right?

Brands like Pagani and Koenigsegg are the elite of the elite. They sit at the upper echelon atop a heap of vehicles most working-class folk will never be able to afford. Forget Hyundais and Toyotas, these things make Mercedes-AMGs and Lamborghinis look common and affordable. That does not stop us from appreciating every stat and spec of these amazing supercars. They are, after all, designed for fans of motorsports, whether we can afford these hypercars or not.

Pagani Huayra R Specs

This six-speed V-12 engine built by Mercedes-Benz has nearly 850 horsepower! Thanks to the many fins, vents, spoilers, wings, and a roof scoop, it has an amazing 2,200 pounds of downforce at 200 MPH. Those are Formula 1 numbers! Its dry weight is 2,314 pounds. Even without turbo, this is definitely a track car. The huge new engine ensures that this thing can hang with any car on the track. The entire vehicle, including the monocoque, is covered in carbo-titanium and carbon fiber. The transmission features a very light sequential gearbox.

The Huayra R has a higher torsional rigidity than the Huayra Roadster BC. The HWA AG team that builds Mercedes-AMGs also worked on the Pagani Huayra R. It has its own custom exhaust system that includes inconel alloy tubing, everything about the Huayra R is fast and light. This coupe can easily compete with and out-perform most of the Porsches and the Ferraris of the world.

The double-wishbone suspension, amazing aerodynamic capabilities, and raw power would make Horacio Pagani himself proud. This masterpiece makes Zonda models (even the Zonda R) look like Priuses when comparing the difference in horsepower. It features all the supercar must-haves: tires by Pirelli, special carbon-ceramic disc brakes by Brembo, 6-piston calipers. The closest many will ever get to being behind the steering wheel of this rare vehicle is the Geneva Motor Show.

As long as companies like Mercedes and BMW keep building these monster engines, there will be no shortage of salivating fans ready to add these supercars to their dream queues.
