A concrete mixer truck can weigh anywhere from 30,000 to 70,000 pounds. The average human head weighs about 10 or 11 pounds. Based on that lopsided match-up, it'a safe to say that, if a person's head happens to find its way in the path of a concrete mixer truck, nine times out of ten, that head is getting crushed like a watermelon.

But somehow, someway, one mother of two was able to be that one out of 10 and miraculously only sustained cuts and bruises on her scalp after having her head run over by a truck in China. If you want to see what beating the odds looks like, check out the terrifying video of the incident above.

As you can see from the surveillance footage released by Jinhua Police, the woman (who has only been identified as "Ms. Zhu") was riding her electric scooter through a busy street, when, all of the sudden, a driver opened his car door at the exact moment when Zhu was passing by it. The impact of the collision flung the woman off her scooter and into the path of a concrete mixer truck traveling the same way.

You can see her head get run over the back wheels of the truck. This would have spelled doom for most people, but Zhu credits one thing with saving her life.

"Without the helmet, I think I would have been dead," Zhu said, according to Daily Mail.

I'll be honest, it's been a good many years since I've needed to wear a helmet for anything, but the helmet industry must have come a long way since the last time I wore one. The idea that a plastic casing is going to save you from multiple tons worth of machinery seems pretty unbelievable to me.

But hey, if this isn't a seriously effective PSA about the important of always wearing a helmet, I don't know what is.
