I've seen plenty of gearheads crafting race engines to slap into their race cars, but building a massive V8 to use on a small airplane? Well, that's a first. Last month, engineer and fabricator Mike Patey uploaded a new video to his YouTube channel taking us through the entire process of upgrading his little bush plane into an all-out beast.

You have to be a little crazy to do something like this, but at the same time, it looks like it would be quite the adrenaline rush to fly around in something with as much power as this. Mike certainly gets his use out of it, though. He takes these planes to all kinds of beautiful places! Watch as this 13-liter, 780 cubic-inch engine roars to life for the first time.

Not only does Mike take us through the process of building his own personal aircraft, but he also gives tons of awesome insight into which parts he's using and why. He's extremely knowledgeable when it comes to aviation. so he really throws out some interesting information for all the viewers. I've never thought about becoming a pilot, but he definitely makes it looks like an interesting career.

In the second video, we finally see them idling the plane, testing out all its components, and making sure this thing is going to perform exactly as expected when it finally gets up in the air. There is pretty much no room for error on an aircraft like this, so these tests are extremely important for the safety of the pilot. If you're ever interested in building one for yourself, having Mike on your side would be beneficial to say the least. At this point, the plane is ready to go flying, and you can see even more follow-up videos on his channel!
