Fox Sports raises Indy 500 stakes with new documentary

Fox Sports is out to showcase the pressure NTT IndyCar Series drivers face as they head to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Indianapolis 500.

The broadcast partner has announced a new documentary, "IndyCar: Anything to Win," which debuts on May 18. This original production from Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Pat Dimon combines archival footage with brand-new interviews, and it fully explains why the Indy 500 is the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

As the trailer shows, the documentary also explains why drivers "are willing to die" in pursuit of this win.

According to the announcement from Fox Sports, "IndyCar: Anything to Win" will feature a packed lineup of interviewees. This group includes championship-winning owner Roger Penske and team owner/series superfan David Letterman.

The documentary will also include interviews with Mario Andretti, Marco Andretti, Scott Dixon, Chip Ganassi, FOX Sports analyst James Hinchcliffe, Tony Kanaan, two-time defending Indy 500 champion Josef Newgarden, Pato O'Ward, Álex Palou, Will Power, and Graham Rahal.

The release of the documentary coincides with Fox Sports preparing to broadcast its first Indy 500 as part of a landmark multi-year deal. Fox Sports has experience bringing the Super Bowl, the Coca-Cola 600, the Daytona 500, and other prestigious events to viewers, but the Indy 500 is in a category of its own.

"Fox Sports is always looking for stories that go beyond the finish line, and 'IndyCar: Anything to Win' brings IndyCar's biggest names and most unforgettable moments to life like never before," said Barry Nugent, Vice President, Development & Original Programming, Fox Sports.

"From kissing the bricks to the long walk from the garage to grid, the film captures the heart of the sport and ignites the countdown to the first-ever Indy 500 on Fox."

The Greatest Spectacle in Racing has been the subject of another documentary in recent seasons. IndyCar and the CW joined forces the last two seasons to create "100 Days to Indy," an episodic series following Josef Newgarden and the other top drivers contending for the prestigious race win.

The first two seasons of "100 Days to Indy" aired on CW and Vice before heading to Paramount Plus and then Netflix.
