Wild Video Shows Detroit Freeway Get Shut Down by Stunt Driving Shenanigans

Late last week, the John C. Lodge Freeway in Detroit, Michigan was the site of some extreme, Fast and Furious-style stunt driving ridiculousness that definitely got more than a few folks' attention. Video of the incident, which has since racked up millions of views on social media, shows a few cars spinning out and doing donuts while a group of drivers block traffic with their cars and cheer wildly.

According to witnesses, the whole thing lasted for several minutes and did a decent job of pissing off quite a few Detroit-area residents.

"I don't know. These kids be on some other kind of stuff. This new generation. They on some other kind of stuff, because we didn't do that," said Sonya Hill, according to clickondetroit.com.

Eric Charleston added, "Youngsters these days that's the in thing now to do that cars got a lot of power, and they are doing it to the fullest."

Ernest Burt and Tony White basically chalked up the stunt driving shenanigans as a byproduct of boredom and bad decision making.

"They have nothing to do. Nothing to do. And they find it as some form of fun," Burt said, with White adding, "They not thinking about life. I know that much."

In a tweet sent Saturday night, Detroit Police announced that they arrested a 25-year-old male for reckless driving close to the scene.

"We are not going to tolerate this blatant disregard for public safety in our city. More to come," Detroit Police James Craig said.

Hey, doing donuts and shredding rubber can be cool and all, but last time I checked, that sort of stuff was reserved for parking lots and abandoned fields. At least it was when I was in high school. Apparently, kids these days have upgraded (downgraded?) to freeways. What a time to be alive.
