Lamborghini recalls thousands of Aventadors due to fire risk

Thousands of Lamborghini Aventadors and a few special edition Venenos have been recalled this week. A problem with the engine bay could cause fires under the hood. If the gas tank is full, liquid fuel may enter the emission system carbon canister. Revving the car while idling can put fuel vapor near the exhaust system, which can get hot enough to pose a fire risk. This is hardly a minor recall given the $400,000 starting price for most Aventadors. Initial recall numbers were thought to be around 1,400 units, but as of February 15th those numbers have risen to more than 5,900 vehicles produced in the last 5 years.
