Lotus' magnum opus, the Elise, bears a legacy and iconoclastic status most cars and companies still aspire to. The new Elise Cup 250 capitalizes on all the prowess and panache of its progenitor then cranks them up to 11. The carbon fiber package sheds nearly 70 pounds of total weight, bringing the approximate weight of the already light, sporty track-happy car to just about a flat US ton. Its relatively light frame combined with its massive powertrain makes driving one of the Cup 250s an exercise in white-knuckling.
