Xfinity starting lineup at Michigan: Sheldon Creed wins pole


Sheldon Creed will lead the Xfinity Series field to the green flag on Saturday afternoon at Michigan International Speedway (3:30 p.m. ET on USA Network).

Creed won the pole with a lap of 171.645 mph and 41.947 seconds. This is his second pole win of the season and the third of his Xfinity Series career. His last pole win was at Pocono Raceway.

Riley Herbst qualified second with a lap of 171.233 mph. He will start on the front row alongside Creed. Herbst also started on the front row at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a race he ultimately won.

Taylor Gray (171.156 mph), Cole Custer (171.119 mph), Chandler Smith (170.495 mph), Brandon Jones (170.410 mph), Ryan Sieg (170.116 mph), Carson Kvapil (170.068 mph), Jesse Love (169.992 mph), and John Hunter Nemechek (169.976 mph) all qualified inside the top 10.

Morgen Baird was the lone driver who did not qualify for Saturday afternoon's race.

AJ Allmendinger, one of two drivers in the lineup with an Xfinity win at Michigan, qualified 13th with a lap of (169.408 mph). He will start alongside Sammy Smith, who enters the weekend three points below the playoff cutline.

Another notable driver in the lineup is Lawless Alan, who took over the No. 15 AM Racing Ford Mustang for his Xfinity debut. He qualified 15th overall and secured a spot next to Justin Allgaier on the eighth row.

Winning the pole is significant for Creed, who prepares for his third career Xfinity start at Michigan. His previous two starting positions at the track were 11th and 15th. He finished 11th and 12th in these races while driving for Richard Childress Racing.

The green flag will wave on Saturday at 3:36 p.m. ET. The command to fire engines will take place at 3:27 p.m. ET. USA Network will provide coverage as Xfinity drivers compete for the win, playoff points, and a secure spot in the playoffs.
