AM Racing expands driver lineup for Michigan race

The No. 15 AM Racing Ford Mustang will have another new driver this weekend at Michigan International Speedway.

The team, which mutually parted ways with Hailie Deegan after Nashville, announced on Monday that Lawless Alan will make multiple starts in the No. 15. His first will be Saturday's race at Michigan. His second will be the Sept. 7 race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Michigan will mark Alan's first-ever start in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and his first-ever start at the two-mile track in any series. The Truck Series in which Alan competes full-time has not raced at Michigan since 2020.

"I am very thankful for this opportunity to make my NASCAR Xfinity Series debut with AM Racing," Alan said in a statement.

"I believe I will have the opportunity to be competitive at Michigan with our No. 15 AUTOChargit Ford Mustang and have the chance to bring the team and our partners a strong finish on Saturday afternoon."

Alan is currently in his third full-time season in the Truck Series, which he has spent with both Niece Motorsports and Reaume Brothers Racing. His career-best finish is 10th at Talladega Superspeedway.

Alan is now the fourth driver to make at least one start for AM Racing.

Deegan made 17 starts before the mutual parting of ways. Josh Berry made starts at Pocono Raceway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Joey Logano drove the No. 15 on the streets of Chicago and posted the team's first to-10 finish of the season.

The first test for Alan will be on Friday, Aug. 16. He will take part in his first practice session at Michigan and then he will take part in qualifying.

This second session will feature 39 entries for only 38 spots on the Xfinity Series starting grid. One driver will go home after qualifying.

Alan is one of multiple guest drivers on the entry list for Saturday's Xfinity return. The list also includes Noah Gragson, Carson Kvapil, Caesar Bacarella, Daniel Dye, John Hunter Nemechek, Taylor Gray, Josh Bilicki, and Jeffrey Earnhardt.
