Jeffrey Earnhardt adds to NASCAR schedule

Jeffrey Earnhardt is back for more starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series as he has added to his 2024 racing schedule.

Earnhardt announced on Monday that he will reunite with Sam Hunt Racing. He will make two more starts in the No. 26 Toyota GR Supra while Synergy Modular serves as his primary sponsor.

Earnhardt's next start will be Aug. 17 at Michigan International Speedway, the first race for Xfinity teams since Riley Herbst's win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Earnhardt will then return to the No. 26 Toyota on Nov. 9 at Phoenix Raceway.

The North Carolina native has made two starts for Sam Hunt Racing so far this season. He made his season debut at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Feb. 24. He finished eighth.

Earnhardt then returned to the entry at Talladega Superspeedway on April 20 as he sought another top-10 finish. However, an engine failure relegated him to a 37th-place finish.

Sam Hunt Racing fielded two full-time Xfinity entries last season. Kaz Grala drove the No. 26 full-time while Connor Mosack shared the No. 24 with a variety of drivers. This list included Corey Heim, Tyler Reddick, Parker Chase, and Sage Karam.

Sam Hunt Racing went back to one full-time entry for this season while working with a rotating lineup of drivers. Heim has made the most starts for the team as he has competed in nine races. His third-place finish at Iowa Speedway matched the best career finish in Sam Hunt Racing's brief history.

Earnhardt has raced in all three NASCAR series, but he has made the most starts (170) in the Xfinity Series with multiple teams. This includes the 2020 and 2021 seasons that he spent with JD Motorsports.

Earnhardt has posted a total of two top-five finishes and six top-10s while suiting up for a variety of teams. His career-best finish was second behind Noah Gragson at Talladega Superspeedway in 2022.

This was a special race for Earnhardt as he drove the No. 3 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing while Larry McReynolds, the man who won a Daytona 500 with Dale Earnhardt, served as his crew chief.
