Team drama, high-stakes racing highlight full 'F1' movie trailer

Apple TV+ and Warner Bros. Pictures have released the first full trailer for "F1," the Formula One-focused blockbuster film starring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski of "Top Gun: Maverick" fame.

The two-and-a-half minute clip reveals the backstory for Sonny Hayes, Pitt's character. As Javier Bardem explains, some people look at Hayes and see a guy who lives in a van, a gambling junkie who missed his shot, or the "best who never was."

This is not the case for Bardem, who plays the character allowing Hayes to compete full-time in F1 once again. He sees "possibility." This is why, according to the trailer, Bardem's character brought in Hayes to be the veteran teammate of rising star Joshua Pearce.

Of course, the film will not feature Pearce and Hayes getting along from the first moment they meet. The trailer revealed there would be conflict between the two drivers, both verbal and physical.

The characters will drive the story, but one of the biggest draws for viewers will be the racing action. This is expected, considering how Kosinski highlighted aerial action in "Top Gun: Maverick."

Interestingly enough, the film will not solely focus on the high-speed vehicles of F1 controlled by Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, and other top drivers.

The trailer also revealed that Hayes will compete in the prestigious Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway. It confirmed as much with Pitt's dialogue and a glimpse of the iconic fireworks display.

Apple TV+ and Warner Bros. Pictures have provided multiple teases in the months leading up to the release of "F1." They have primarily focused on quick glimpses of the intense racing sequences that will drive the racing film.

Now that the fans have seen the full trailer, they know more about the team dynamics and the relationships that will matter. They also know the release date. According to a poster on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, "F1" will land in theaters on June 27, 2025.
