Less than three months ago, IndyCar driver Sebastien Bourdais was involved in a fiery crash while qualifying for the Indianapolis 500.

The impact of the crash resulted in Bourdais fracturing his hip and his pelvis, and he had surgery to repair both on the same day.

According to AutoSport, Bourdais spent five days in the hospital before leaving to start rehab.

The French driver tweeted this week that he has been cleared by doctors, and he is ready to return to racing.

AutoSport reported that Bourdais could return as early as Sept. 3 at Watkins Glen. Whenever he returns, it's quite the accomplishment for someone who fractured a hip and pelvis to return--or even have the desire to return--to racing so soon after an accident that severe.
