Popular driver wants to come back after horrific injury, but a possible teammate has doubts

Competition has a way of bringing the best and worst out of people.

Still without a F1 contract for next year and hearing rumors that he could be replaced at Williams, Felipe Massa lashed out at possible replacements recently in an exclusive interview with Motorsport.com's GP Gazette.

One of Massa's targets was none other than Robert Kubica, who tested twice for Williams this year at Hungaroring and Silverstone. What makes this astonishing is that Kubica experienced a life-threatening rally crash in 2011 that required doctors to amputate part of his forearm, according to EXPRESS.

While many people initially thought Kubica would never drive professionally again, he made it back to rally racing just 18 months after that horrific crash.

Now it sounds like Kubica is the favorite to take over for Massa at Williams.

Nevertheless, Massa has doubts about Kubica's ability to excel again in F1, even though he applauds his effort and determination.

"It's impossible for me to believe that he will not suffer with some of the races with this car that we're driving that is a lot more difficult physically," Massa said, according to PlanetF1.com. "I really respect what he's doing, it's just amazing. But it's impossible to believe that he will not have some issues."

Massa also expressed his concerns about another driver who's in consideration for his ride at Williams. That driver is Paul di Resta, who lost his Force India F1 ride after the 2013 season. In the years since, di Resta has competed in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) touring car racing series, where he's finished no better than fifth in the championships standings over the past four years.

"I don't believe he's the right driver for the team, to develop the car and show the results and everything," Massa said, according to Autosport.com.

"Plus I don't think he's doing a great job in what he's racing as well. Anyway, I'm not here to complain about anything, that's only my opinion."
