Penske taps racing veteran to try and win Xfinity championship

A familiar name will helm the #22 Penske Ford in the Xfinity Series finale at Homestead.

Motorsport.com reports longtime NASCAR and IndyCar driver Sam Hornish, Jr. has been picked to try and win Team Penske's 4th team championship in 5 years.

The 38-year-old Hornish is one of five drivers sharing duties this season driving the #22 for Penske. He already has one victory, Brad Keselowski and Ryan Blaney have the others. Hornish has won a total of five Xfinity Series races in addition to three driving IndyCar.

Currently, the Team Penske #22 leads the series standings by 7 points over the #20 Joe Gibbs car.
