Our Motorsports Xfinity Series owner points find new home

Our Motorsports exited the NASCAR Xfinity Series after the trip to Dover Motor Speedway. Weeks later, another team will use the owner points to field a fourth entry.

Alpha Prime Racing announced on Monday that it had acquired the owner points for the No. 5 entry, which Our Motorsports fielded in 19 races this season. Kris Wright made 18 starts while Kaz Grala made one. The No. 5 enters Daytona week 38th in points.

The No. 5 will now return under the Alpha Prime Racing banner. Team co-owner Caesar Bacarella will drive the entry at Daytona International Speedway. He will have 7-Eleven and Prime Bites as his sponsor for the event.

"We're stoked about this one," Bacarella posted on X on Monday. "Really happy with Alpha Prime Bites success and growth over the years but having our products become available at select (7-Eleven) locations is an incredible next step! Can't (wait) to get back behind the wheel at Daytona with our guys!"

Bacarella, the founder of Alpha Prime Supplements, has made two Xfinity starts this season. He drove the No. 45 Chevrolet in the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway and finished 13th. He then returned to the entry at Talladega Superspeedway and finished 30th.

Thirteen of Bacarella's 34 Xfinity Series starts have taken place at the Florida track. He has three top-13 finishes and an average finish of 27.8.

With Alpha Prime Racing acquiring the owner points for the No. 5, Bacarella has a bit of a cushion entering qualifying. Only 38 cars can compete in each Xfinity Series event.

If he had no owner points to rely on, he would have to beat several cars on speed to make the lineup if more than 38 showed up for qualifying or if rain washes out the session.

Having owner points reduces the number of cars Bacarella has to beat. Thirty-two spots go to the fastest cars while six spots go to owner points provisionals.
