Niece Motorsports locks in Matt Mills for 2025 NASCAR season

Niece Motorsports has locked in one of the team's drivers for the 2025 Craftsman Truck Series season.

Matt Mills will return to Niece Motorsports next season as he once again competes full-time in the No. 42 Chevrolet Silverado RST. He will have J.F. Electric and Utilitra as primary sponsors for his second season with the championship-contending organization.

"I'm extremely fortunate to have people like J.F. Electric and Utilitra coming on board and supporting me on this journey again," Mills said in a press release. "It's been a really fun time with everyone at Niece Motorsports with what we've been able to build on throughout the year.

"I'm hoping to carry that on through the next few races and into the 2025 season. Every opportunity I get, I'm very fortunate, and that wouldn't be possible without my partners. I appreciate Niece Motorsports for believing in me; it's a dream come true to race for an operation like theirs and race for Al Niece. I'm excited to finish off the year strong and ready to keep working into next year."

Mills, who has spent the majority of his career competing in the Xfinity Series, made the move to Niece Motorsports ahead of the 2024 season. He kicked off his first full campaign in the third-tier NASCAR series after making only 23 starts between 2016-23.

Mills finished outside the top 20 in the first eight races of the season, but he has since posted four top-15 finishes while gaining experience in the series. This includes an eighth-place finish at Nashville Superspeedway and a career-best fourth-place finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

As Niece Motorsports explained in a press release, this season was about growth for Mills. Next season will be all about contending for a spot in the playoffs.

"Matt has been a great add to our team this year," said team general manager Cody Efaw. "Even though he's been racing in NASCAR for a long time, he entered this season with a fresh mindset.

"The Truck Series is a completely different animal compared to what he's been used to racing, and he'll be the first to tell you how much he's learned. He knows the feel he needs out of his truck now, and I think we'll have a chance to go out there and have a great year with him."
