NASCAR Friday schedule at Martinsville Speedway


Two of the national NASCAR series take on Martinsville Speedway on Friday afternoon and evening while kicking off a tripleheader weekend.

The Craftsman Truck Series teams will practice, qualify, and race at the .526-mile track. The Xfinity Series teams will practice and qualify as they prepare for Saturday evening's short track race.

Friday, March 28, schedule (Eastern Time)

  • 9 a.m. -- Truck Series garage hours
  • 11:30 a.m. - 7 p.m. -- Xfinity Series garage hours
  • 2:05 - 3 p.m. -- Truck Series practice (FS2)
  • 3:10 - 4 p.m. -- Truck Series qualifying (FS2)
  • 4:30 - 5:25 p.m. -- Xfinity Series practice (CW app)
  • 5:35 - 6:30 p.m. -- Xfinity Series qualifying (CW app)
  • 7:30 p.m. -- Truck Series race (200 laps, 105.2 miles. FS1, radio coverage on NASCAR Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio)

Extra storylines: Significant bonus money is available for drivers in both series. The Truck Series race kicks off the Triple Truck Challenge that pays $50,000 to the series regular who wins the short track race.

The Xfinity race continues the Dash 4 Cash program, which awards $100,000 to one of four eligible drivers: Justin Allgaier, Sam Mayer, Sheldon Creed, and Austin Hill. Allgaier won last weekend's Dash 4 Cash at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Additionally, all but one of the Truck Series regulars will continue to seek their first win of the season.

Corey Heim is the only driver with a secure spot in the playoffs due to his wins at Daytona International Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Cup Series drivers won the Truck races at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Circuit of the Americas.

Heim leads the Truck Series standings with 177 points and a series-high two stage wins. Reigning champion Ty Majeski is in second with 169 points.

Kaden Honeycutt holds the final playoff spot based on points. He is two points ahead of two-time Truck Series champion Ben Rhodes and four points ahead of Tanner Gray.
