Martinsville Speedway kicks off NASCAR bonus program

The time has come for Craftsman Truck Series drivers to compete for some bonus money. The Triple Truck Challenge officially begins this weekend at Martinsville Speedway.

This bonus program offers a $50,000 bonus to the Truck Series regular who wins one of the three races making up the Triple Truck Challenge. If the driver wins two of the three races, they lock up $150,000. Sweeping all three Triple Truck Challenge races secures a $500,000 payday.

The three tracks hosting the Triple Truck Challenge are Martinsville Speedway (March 28), Bristol Motor Speedway (April 11), and Rockingham Speedway (April 18). This is a change from past seasons, considering that Nashville Superspeedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway previously hosted Triple Truck Challenge events.

The bonus program began in 2019 with Texas Motor Speedway, Iowa Speedway, and World Wide Technology Raceway. Greg Biffle, Brett Moffitt, and Ross Chastain won the $50,000 bonuses. Chastain actually won two races but failed post-race inspection at Iowa. His disqualification led to Moffitt locking up the money.

Other winners of the Triple Truck Challenge since 2019 include Sheldon Creed, Zane Smith, Todd Gilliland, John Hunter Nemechek, Corey Heim, Ryan Preece, Parker Kligerman, Ben Rhodes, Grant Enfinger, Carson Hocevar, Nick Sanchez, and Christian Eckes.

Heim is one of two drivers with multiple wins as part of the bonus program. He captured the $50,000 prize two times. Creed is the only driver to win the Triple Truck Challenge three times. He won twice in 2020 to score $150,000, and then he won again in 2021.

The Tricon Garage driver will have three more opportunities to match and then surpass Creed's mark. He continues to compete full-time in the Craftsman Truck Series while Creed now competes full-time in the Xfinity Series.

Heim has already won two races this season, and he has past success at two of the Triple Truck Challenge tracks. He has one win at Bristol Motor Speedway and one win at Martinsville Speedway.

The race weekend at Martinsville also continues another NASCAR bonus program. The Xfinity Series Dash 4 Cash enters the second round this weekend after Justin Allgaier won the first $100,000 prize last weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
