Corey Heim takes on new role with 23XI Racing

HAMPTON, Ga. -- Corey Heim is taking on a new role with 23XI Racing. He has joined the Cup Series organization as a development driver while expanding his racing schedule.

According to a press release, Heim will make multiple Cup Series starts for 23XI Racing this season. He will drive the No. 67 Toyota Camry XSE, starting at Kansas Speedway in May. He will have race-winning crew chief Bootie Barker calling the shots for his part-time effort.

Heim, who remains part of the Toyota Gazoo Racing development lineup, will also continue to serve as 23XI Racing's reserve driver this season.

Heim's expanded schedule will not only include multiple Cup starts. He will return to the Xfinity Series to join Sam Hunt Racing for multiple races, starting with Circuit of the Americas on May 1. This race will mark Heim's first road course start in the Xfinity Series.

Of course, Heim will continue to serve in his primary role as a full-time Truck Series driver for Tricon Garage. He is already in the playoffs with a win at Daytona, and he is set to continue the pursuit of his first championship.

"It's a dream come true to be a part of 23XI, and I'm excited for the opportunity to race more Cup and Xfinity races this year," Heim said in a press release. "I'm blessed to have the chance to compete in all three series as I continue to set my sights on full-time Cup racing when that time comes.

"The success that 23XI has shown in only a few short years has been impressive and I'm excited to learn from the organization. I'm also grateful to everyone at Toyota for their ongoing support in my development both on and off the track, and I look forward to strengthening that relationship for years to come."

Heim has three Cup Series starts on his resume. He replaced an injured Erik Jones for two races last season (Dover and Kansas) and then joined 23XI Racing for a race at Nashville.

The Georgia native has made 17 starts for Sam Hunt Racing since 2023, including 13 last season. He has delivered three top-five finishes and five top-10s in his part-time role. His best career finish for the team was third at Iowa Speedway last season.

"I couldn't be more excited to have Corey back with us at SHR this year, working alongside 23XI on his professional development," said Sam Hunt, owner of Sam Hunt Racing. "Corey has become like a little brother to me -- we understand each other's journeys, and he genuinely cares about the growth and success of SHR long-term.

"We have had some very strong performances together in the past, so we are looking to continue maximizing our resources and flexing strength as we chase that first organizational win and develop Corey as a Sunday driver."
