NASCAR Friday schedule, forecast at Indianapolis, IRP


The race weekend kicks off with four series hitting the track in two different locations. Two NASCAR series will head to Indianapolis Motor Speedway while two will head to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park (IRP).

The Xfinity Series and Cup Series teams will both have on-track sessions at Indianapolis Motor Speedway while preparing for their respective races. ARCA Menards Series and Craftsman Truck Series teams will head to IRP for a one-day show.

Multiple drivers will pull double duty this weekend in Indianapolis. Jesse Love, Josh Bilicki, Katherine Legge, and Kyle Larson will all compete in both the Xfinity and Cup Series races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Ross Chastain will compete in the Cup race at IMS and the Truck Series race at IRP.

Meanwhile, Brenden Queen and Brent Crews will pull double duty at IRP. They will first compete in the ARCA Menards Series race before taking on the Truck Series race later in the evening.

Indianapolis forecast

Friday forecast: The WeatherUnderground forecast -- which continues to change with each passing hour -- calls for cloudy skies throughout the day and the chance of scattered thunderstorms. A high of 85 degrees and a 36% chance of rain at the start of the Truck Series race.
