The Bristol Motor Speedway weekend kicks off on Friday afternoon as one of the national NASCAR series takes to the track.
The Craftsman Truck Series teams will practice and qualify to set the starting lineup. They will then race on Friday night. Xfinity Series teams will also be at the track for pre-race technical inspections. Cup Series teams do not unload at Bristol until Saturday morning.
This event will kick off Kyle Larson's quest for a tripleheader sweep as he joins Spire Motorsports once again. The Truck Series lineup will also feature Corey Day in a Spire Motorsports truck, Brandon Jones in a Tricon Garage truck, and Dr. Patrick Staropoli in a Cook Racing Technologies truck.
Only 35 drivers will take part in qualifying, so they will all make the show. The Truck Series races feature 36 spots on the starting grid.
Friday night's race marks the second event of the Triple Truck Challenge. The Truck Series regulars will race for the $50,000 bonus. Daniel Hemric, who won the Triple Truck Challenge event at Martinsville, will try to capture his second bonus and increase the amount to $150,000.
