Talladega is known for being one of the most unpredictable racetracks in NASCAR, and its scheduling placement in the middle of the postseason provides plenty of intrigue for drivers and fans.
It's currently the second race in the Round of 12, and it's a pivotal race for every driver with the exception of Martin Truex Jr., who already qualified for the Round of 8.
Denny Hamlin is one of the drivers in need of a good showing at Talladega, and he told reporters he actually thinks the second race of the season at Talladega should be the last race of the regular season.

"I think it should be the last race before the playoffs," Hamlin said. "I think that is the ultimate wild card spot, and if you want to see the craziest Talladega race ever, it would be right before the playoffs started.
"Because you're going to have 28 cars or so with their last opportunity to make it into the playoffs. To me, it's a no brainer."
Hamlin said the idea has been floated, and he said it would be the "ultimate cut-off race."
It wouldn't be surprising to see NASCAR officials make that change in the future considering it's one of the top races in the season. Hamlin won at Talladega in 2014 for the first time, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. won at the track earlier this season.
