Legacy Motor Club has put pieces in place for future seasons after inking a multi-year extension with primary sponsor Dollar Tree.
According to a press release, the Dollar Tree brand will return to the No. 42 of John Hunter Nemechek and the No. 43 of Erik Jones as part of this extension, which runs through the 2028 NASCAR Cup Series season. This deal will build upon a relationship that began after the organization switched from Chevrolet to Toyota.
"We're excited to extend our partnership with Legacy Motor Club through 2028," said Rick McNeely, Chief Merchandising Officer, Dollar Tree. "This continued collaboration puts our brand in front of millions of loyal NASCAR fans and gives us the opportunity to drive deeper engagement with customers in a bold, high-energy environment.
"We're looking forward to what's ahead with Jimmie (Johnson), John Hunter, Erik, and the entire Legacy MC team."
The Legacy Motor Club entries first featured Dollar Tree branding in 2024. The store chain inked a multi-year deal spanning all 38 races, and it made its points-paying debut with Nemechek during the season-opening Daytona 500. Nemechek finished seventh. He then added a sixth-place finish at Bristol with the Dollar Tree scheme on his No. 42 Toyota.
Jones first showcased Dollar Tree colors on the No. 43 Toyota during the spring race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He finished 14th at the intermediate track. He later delivered a fifth-place finish at Talladega Superspeedway with the Dollar Tree scheme.
Team co-owner Jimmie Johnson also got in on the fun. He drove a co-branded Dollar Tree/Family Dollar Toyota during a trip to Dover Motor Speedway. He also showcased the brands at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Kansas Speedway.
This multi-year extension now comes at a time when Legacy Motor Club is performing far more consistently. Nemechek is 20th in the standings with a career-high six top-10 finishes. He also scored his first top-five as a Cup Series driver.
Jones, who had a slower start to the season, has moved from 30th in points to 17th in nine races while scoring three top-10s and two top-fives. He remains below the cutline, but he has put himself back in contention with seven races remaining in the regular season.
