Kyle Larson, William Byron add Truck races to 2025 schedule

Two Hendrick Motorsports drivers are taking on the Craftsman Truck Series this season while joining forces with another Chevrolet team.

Kyle Larson and William Byron will both join Spire Motorsports this season. They will join the list of drivers sharing the No. 07 Chevrolet Silverado. HendrickCars.com will sponsor both drivers.

Larson will take over the truck for two starts. He will make his return to the third-tier series on March 21 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Byron will follow on March 28 at Martinsville Speedway. Larson will then return to the No. 07 on April 11 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Larson will pull triple duty as he also drives the No. 17 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports in the Xfinity races at Homestead and Bristol before continuing with the Cup schedule in the No. 5 Chevrolet.

"One of the coolest things of having a Craftsman Truck Series team is to have the crossover from Hendrick Motorsports and Hendrick Automotive Group," said Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson in a statement.

"We've had all their drivers in our trucks from time to time, and to have two guys in William and Kyle, who have won races with us back in the seat certainly gives the team a little more pep in our step. It also raises the bar for those races to win or bust. You don't show up with those guys to do anything else but win."

Byron is a familiar face at Spire Motorsports. He previously joined the team for the 2022 Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway. He started 32nd but finished first after leading 94 laps.

Byron then joined Kyle Busch Motorsports for three races in 2023. He delivered two top-five finishes. Spire Motorsports bought this Truck team and its facility, retaining many employees in the process.

"I'm excited to get back to the Truck Series," Byron said. "It's been a couple years for me so I'm ready to try it again. Plus, the last time I ran a truck at Martinsville, we won.

"Hopefully, we can do that again because it really paid off for us on the Cup side of things. Spire is a great group, and I'm excited to work with them again."

Larson only has 15 Truck Series starts in his career, split between five teams. He has three wins, including one in his lone start for Spire Motorsports. Larson led 138 laps at North Wilkesboro Speedway in 2023 before putting the No. 7 in victory lane.

Spire Motorsports has already celebrated one win this season in the third-tier NASCAR series. Kyle Busch took over the No. 7 Chevrolet at Atlanta Motor Speedway and led 80 laps. He scored his 67th career Truck win in a photo finish with Stewart Friesen.
