Justin Allgaier "redeems himself" with dominant Nashville win

Justin Allgaier has put his pit mistake at Charlotte Motor Speedway behind him with a dominant win at Nashville Superspeedway.

The JR Motorsports driver delivered a perfect win for his team. He swept the stage wins, posted the Xfinity Fastest Lap, and won the race. This secured 61 points, the highest possible amount available.

Allgaier, the points leader, also tied Austin Hill with his third win this season. No other driver in the Xfinity Series has more than one win.

Rookie Connor Zilisch crossed the line in second place. This marked his second consecutive runner-up finish on an intermediate oval track.

Sam Mayer, Sheldon Creed, Ross Chastain, Aric Almirola, Hill, Jesse Love, Daniel Dye, and Carson Kvapil rounded out the top 10. However, Dye's No. 10 failed rear heights in post-race inspection, so NASCAR disqualified him.

This dropped Dye from eighth to 38th. Kvapil moved into a ninth-place finish while Sammy Smith moved into 10th place.

Allgaier told his team after the win that he had let them down last week at Charlotte but that he redeemed himself at Nashville Superspeedway. This referenced his decision to stay out on the track in the final stage after the No. 7 team told him to head down pit road for fresh tires.

Allgaier was able to hold his spot at the front of the pack after deciding to stay out on track. However, a rash of cautions opened up opportunities for William Byron and other drivers with fresh tires to work through traffic.

These cautions set Byron up for the final restart, which he used to take the lead and score the win. Allgaier had to settle for fourth place.

This weekend was an entirely different story. The No. 7 team performed flawlessly on pit road while Allgaier did everything he needed out on the track. Even when Creed and Zilisch challenged him, he was able to hold them off while leading a race-high 101 laps.

This win actually marked the second time that Allgaier delivered a dominant performance at Nashville Superspeedway. Back in 2022, he led 134 of the 188 laps after starting fifth. He swept the stages, scored the win, and left Tennessee with a Gibson Les Paul.
