A newly minted champion would 'Love' to race in NASCAR

After winning the 2017 IndyCar Championship, Josef Newgarden was asked about possibly broadening his racing horizons to race in NASCAR. You can tell it wasn't the first time he thought about the possibility.

"I'd love to, I really get a kick out of the NASCAR stuff," Newgarden said. "I think it's so fascinating because it's so different to me. It's not my background. To me, that's very exciting; it's something new. [...] It's something to try to master. I would love to get an opportunity to go over there."

Doing both NASCAR and Indycar is also an idea he is interested in. Nothing is on the immediate horizon, though, as he is focused on his responsibilities in IndyCar for Team Penske. Maybe if he defends his title next year he will have earned a shot at NASCAR?

"I'm hoping I can twist (Roger Penske's) arm and get him to put me in some NASCAR stuff at some point." He said.

We'll see!
