Jesse Love expands Cup Series schedule with more starts

Jesse Love has expanded his Cup Series schedule. He will make two more starts this season while gaining experience at NASCAR's top level.

According to a press release, Love will return to the No. 33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Camaro this weekend at Kansas Speedway. He will make his second Cup Series start on an intermediate track.

The second of these starts will take place on Aug. 16. Love will take over the No. 33 Chevrolet at Richmond Raceway in what will only be his second national series start at the Virginia short track.

C4 Ultimate Energy will continue its support of Love as the primary sponsor for both starts in the No. 33.

The opportunity to make these starts happened as the Xfinity Series goes on a two-week break. The series, in which Love competes full-time, will be idle until May 24 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Only the Craftsman Truck Series and Cup Series teams will take on Kansas Speedway and North Wilkesboro Speedway.

"I'm looking forward to being back behind the wheel of the No. 33 C4 Ultimate Energy Chevrolet this weekend at Kansas," Love said in a press release.

"Kansas has been a great track for me throughout my career, and to have the opportunity to run the Cup car consecutive weeks on a mile-and-a-half track is going to be valuable experience. The focus for these races is to continue learning and understanding how this car feels compared to other cars that I've raced in the past."

Love, who is fourth in the Xfinity standings, made his Cup Series debut at Bristol Motor Speedway. He qualified 19th and completed the entire race. He finished 31st.

The California native returned to the Cup Series last weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. He drove for Beard Motorsports as the team took on the Texas track for the first time. Love was one of 12 drivers who failed to finish the chaotic race.
