The NTT IndyCar Series will continue to race in Canada for the foreseeable future while moving to a new destination in Ontario as part of a multi-year deal.
According to a Wednesday announcement, the annual race will move from Toronto to the city of Markham, which is roughly 20 miles to the northeast. Event organizers will construct a new street circuit, which will incorporate the Markham Centre downtown area. This part of the city holds many corporate headquarters, the York University Markham Campus, and the Markham Pan Am Centre sports complex.
IndyCar executives noted on Wednesday that this deal is for five years. The first Ontario Honda Dealers Indy event will take place during the 2026 season. Teams will continue racing in Markham through the 2030 season.

This move puts the NTT IndyCar Series in city with numerous transportation options. According to the series, Markham has access to two major highways, the Unionville GO public transportation station, and the VIVA Rapid Transit bus station.
The expectation is that more than 140,000 people will attend the inaugural Markham race over three days. Organizers believe the event will generate "tens of millions in economic activity through sport tourism, hospitality, and event services."
"We could not be more pleased to see the rich history of NTT IndyCar Series racing continue in Ontario," Penske Entertainment President and CEO Mark Miles said. "Markham is a growing, diverse, and dynamic city and will provide a terrific showcase for our exhilarating wheel-to-wheel racing.
"I would like to thank Mayor Frank Scarpitti for this thrilling new partnership and Jeff Atkinson and the team at Green Savoree Toronto for their leadership. It is crucial for IndyCar to continue to reach our fans in Canada, and we simply cannot wait for this new chapter to begin next year."
Toronto, Ontario, hosted the NTT IndyCar Series 16 times between 2009 and 2025 with numerous drivers celebrating wins. Scott Dixon particularly took to this street circuit as he celebrated four wins. Dario Franchitti, Josef Newgarden, Will Power each won twice in Toronto. Pato O'Ward won this season's race, which marked the final time in Toronto for at least five years.
Now, teams will head to a temporary street circuit featuring 12 turns over 2.19 miles (3.52 km). The circuit will have a double-sided pit lane and a mix of high-speed straights and technical sections.
