Who doesn't love a good race between classic muscle and modern muscle? These drag races at Mission Raceway Park in Canada are absolutely insane. Tons of beautiful old school rides showed up for the event, and they definitely brought the power. But, how do the classics compare to the late model Dodge Demon? This video might help put some things into perspective for you.

I undoubtedly love '70s-era cars, but there is no denying the capabilities of the newer models. Auto manufacturers are just stuffing more horsepower and technology into these things as the years go on. Just listen to the supercharger whine from under the hood of that beastly Demon! Not only does it just sound aggressive, but this thing also launches off the line with some mind-blowing acceleration. Understandable, seeing as Dodge created this car for the purpose of drag racing.

At the beginning of the video, the Demon seems to be on top of everyone. Don't lose faith, classic car aficionados, because some of the higher-horsepower classics eventually come along to take the Dodge down. The Demon driver matches up against all kinds of iconic vehicles. This includes Mustangs, Chargers, Novas, old Challengers, and so many more. Some of these things look like they just came off the showroom floor!

Take note of the quarter-mile times. In the very first race, the Dodge runs a nine-second pass. That's not extremely easy to match, especially in a car that was made 50+ years ago. That being said, leave it to the drag racers to turn their classics into wildly competitive race cars. The blue Ford Mustang, for example, runs an eight-second pass! The Demon didn't stand a chance in that race, which you can see around the two-minute mark.

This is just raw action for everyone to enjoy no matter what your vehicular preference is. Everyone loves the sound of V8 engines screaming down the track. It's still pretty crazy to think that the Dodge Demon is completely stock. 1,000 horsepower from the factory sounds pretty good on paper, but it looks even better when you see it in action. Makes me really miss attending racing events. Soon enough, once coronavirus is finally nipped in the bud, we'll all be able to get back out there.
