This is never the way you want to start the weekend.

ESPN did it's rundown on drivers who have been penalized for failing pre-race tech, and there are some important names on the list.

Chase Elliott -- who is going for a title -- received a 15-minute practice hold because his No. 24 failed pre-race tech twice. Joey Logano and Chris Buescher also received the same penalty.

Erik Jones received the stiffest penalty, losing 30 minutes of practice time for failing pre-qualifying tech three times.

Three other drivers failed pre-qualifying tech twice and will also be docked 15 minutes.
