CARS Tour takes on new audience with Fox Sports deal

The zMAX CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour is about to take on a much larger audience as part of a deal with Fox Sports.

As announced Tuesday, FloRacing and Fox Sports will join forces this May as zMAX CARS Tour competitors head to North Wilkesboro Speedway. FS1 will air flag-to-flag coverage of the May 16 100-lap Late Model race that kicks off NASCAR's All-Star weekend.

FloRacing will provide coverage of the May 15 Pro Late Model Tour feature, as well as practice and qualifying sessions for both CARS Tour divisions.

"This is going to be an exciting and entertaining weekend of racing at North Wilkesboro," Dale Earnhardt Jr. said in a press release.

"I'm very proud about how much the series has grown and this is an incredible opportunity for our drivers and teams to showcase themselves. Kevin (Harvick) and I are going to have a lot of fun calling that race from the booth on Friday."

Earnhardt Jr. -- one of the owners of the zMAX CARS LMSC Tour along with Kevin Harvick, Justin Marks, and Jeff Burton -- will have an important role during the FS1 debut. He will be in the booth to call the action along with Harvick lead CARS Tour FloRacing play-by-play announcer Eric Brennan.

Blake McCandless will be on pit road, providing updates along with a seasoned FS1 reporter. Fox Sports and the zMAX CARS Tour will name this FS1 reporter at a later date.

The Late Model race will cap off a busy day at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Cup Series teams and Craftsman Truck Series teams will both practice at the historic short track. The Cup teams will also take part in the pit crew challenge.

"Our primary mission is to look for ways to put our drivers, teams, and partners in front of as many race fans as possible," said CARS Tour Executive Director Kip Childress.

"This announcement rewards everyone by introducing the CARS Tour to such a big television platform while also bringing the series closer to Sunday's All-Star Race festivities. There's no way to express the gratitude we have to Fox Sports, FloRacing, Speedway Motorsports and NASCAR for helping us make this possible."
