Carson Kvapil gets full-time NASCAR opportunity for 2025

The JR Motorsports Xfinity Series lineup will feature a standout Late Model racer as Carson Kvapil joins the team on a full-time basis.

Kvapil, the son of 2003 Craftsman Truck Series champion Travis Kvapil, will drive the No. 1 Chevrolet Camaro as he replaces a departing Sam Mayer. He will have Bass Pro Shops as his primary sponsor for his rookie season.

This announcement follows a milestone moment in the two-time CARS Tour champion's life. He won the ValleyStar Credit Union 300, a prestigious Late Model race, at Martinsville Speedway. He locked up a grandfather clock and then announced his move to NASCAR.

Kvapil made his Xfinity Series debut this season with a limited number of starts in the No. 88 Chevrolet Camaro. He shared the ride with team co-owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. and future teammate Connor Zilisch, who will also be full-time next season.

The young driver made a quick impression behind the wheel of the No. 88 as he made his debut at Martinsville Speedway in April. He qualified 12th but raced his way to fourth by the end of the second stage. He ultimately crossed the finish line in fourth place.

Kvapil's second start was at Dover. He led 14 laps and put himself in contention for the win in the final stage. He was unable to hold off Ryan Truex in a late restart, but he still crossed the line second overall.

Kvapil has since made two starts at Darlington, one at New Hampshire, one at Indianapolis, one at Nashville, and one at Michigan. He finished inside the top 20 in five of these starts and added his third top-five finish of the season at New Hampshire.

The North Carolina native will now prepare for a major challenge as he takes on the full Xfinity Series schedule. He will race on superspeedways such as Daytona and Talladega for the first time, and he will take on an international race as he competes in Mexico City.

Kvapil will also compete with Zilisch, Daniel Dye, Nick Sanchez, and Christian Eckes for Rookie of the Year.
